Sherman Boone Memorial Tree Planting
This past week, we gathered at the SOILS Education Center in Ceres to honor the life and legacy of Sherman Boone.
Sherman served on the ESRCD Board for over 20 years, contributing to the growth and direction of conservation efforts in Stanislaus County. His long-standing involvement reflected a strong commitment to both agriculture and the local landscape.
During the memorial, those who worked alongside Sherman shared memories that highlighted not only his dedication but also his personality. He was known for his sense of humor and his love of sweets, both of which were remembered and appreciated by those in attendance.
In recognition of his legacy, a peach tree was planted on site, donated by Duarte Nursery.
The tree now stands at the SOILS Education Center as a lasting acknowledgment of Sherman’s years of service and the role he played in shaping conservation efforts in Stanislaus County.
