We Help With Water Conservation
We provide programs and services in water conservation planning, financial assistance, and technical resources for farmers, ranchers, and landowners. All programs are voluntary and designed with the help of a conservation planner or irrigation specialist to meet your operational goals and comply with environmental regulations.
SWEEP Program
The State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program (SWEEP) provides financial assistance in the form of grants to implement irrigation systems that reduce greenhouse gases and save water on California agricultural operations. Eligible system components include (among others) soil moisture monitoring, drip systems, switching to low pressure irrigation systems, pump retrofits, variable frequency drives and installation of renewable energy to reduce on-farm water use and energy.
CDFA has partnered with participating Resource Conservation Districts, including the ESRCD, to provide technical assistance around the state to be able to verify that the SWEEP projects are implemented according to the specifications in their agreement with the landowners or operators. Participating RCDs provide this verification by completing site visits and inspections. Under these interagency agreements with CDFA, RCDs provide technical assistance to agricultural producers in order to:
- Educate them about the SWEEP funding opportunity and WUE
- Create a water/irrigation conservation plan
- Provide verification, and
- Provide irrigation evaluations pre- and/or post implementation.
The application period for SWEEP is OPEN and ends January 22, 2022. For more information, click here >>
